Client: South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT)
ATCS recently assisted SCDOT with updates and revisions to their Traffic Noise Abatement Policy. Our Noise Team facilitated the research initiatives and provided significant professional input in support of the Policy. The project goal was to provide a streamlined solution for noise studies and provide a consistent methodology to model several types of activity category C land uses and provide noise abatement on non-controlled access facilities. Working with SCDOT staff, we developed an improved project noise analysis flow chart outlining three different analyses to help scope each project properly from the start. The goal of the revisions was to provide a consistent and streamlined approach for all noise projects and provide cost-effective solutions while ensuring compliance. ATCS successfully delivered the revised Traffic Noise Abatement Policy to SCDOT in August 2019, which became effective in October 2019.
