Survey/Traffic and Safety Studies/engineering design/public outreach to widen and signalize Braddock Road, Loudoun County, VA

This $5M roadway improvement featured widening from two to four lanes and new traffic signal control. Conducted safety and traffic studies of the at-grade, stop-controlled intersection to reduce congestion. Investigated pedestrian/trail/bicycle/motorist issues along the corridor to improve multimodal access, connectivity to adjacent communities, and safety.

To better serve an existing adjacent school, several geometric and signal phasing alternatives were explored. The selected additional right turn lane approach always allows for effective and efficient operation of the lanes. Conducting multiple public meetings through effective project illustrations and renderings, and incorporating community feedback, eased stakeholder concerns.
