Client: Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA)

The project involved constructing two – 50,000 sf +/- additions to the west side of existing Terminal 2 to house TSA passenger security screening functions; airline check-in counters; concessions; restrooms and various information kiosks. Construction of these additions relocated passenger security screening functions within Terminal 2 from the entrance to each gate pier to the front of Terminal 2 accessible from both Terminal 1 and the existing WMATA Metro Station, thereby transforming Terminal 2 into a secure terminal. The additions are situated over the existing arrivals level roadway and underneath the existing upper-level departures roadway.

ATCS provided construction management staff tasked with performing a variety of CM services including contract administration and facilitation of contract-related correspondence utilizing MWAA’s internet-based construction management software (Primavera Oracle Unifier); managing field coordination between the Contractor, the MWAA CM Team, airport operations, airport stakeholders, and engineering & maintenance personnel; providing quality assurance inspection and oversight including coordinating 3rd party special inspections and testing during construction; reviewing contractor change requests and claims submissions; performing monthly schedule and payment reviews; verifying acceptance testing and commissioning activities; identifying, compiling, and verifying punch list compilation and acceptance through final completion; coordinating final completion activities including reviewing record plan submittals, O&M manuals, and documenting training & demonstration with maintenance personnel and stakeholders.
