Empowering Women: How ATCS Champions Work-Life Balance and Personal Growth

“A woman in the A/E/C industry once told me something that has stuck with me for years. She said she was working like she didn’t have children and she was trying to be a mom like she didn’t have a career. That really resonated with me,” said Brennan Collier, Senior Vice President of Strategic sales at ATCS. “For so long, I was burning the candle at both ends trying to give 100% to both my career and my family. ATCS has allowed me to strike a balance between the two and I finally feel like I’m achieving what I need to achieve at work and at home without sacrificing one for the other.”

Many women at ATCS shared similar thoughts when asked about the benefits ATCS offers that best support women in the workplace. Flexibility in the workplace is paramount, particularly for working moms and women juggling multiple responsibilities outside of their professional lives. ATCS provides a hybrid in-office and remote work schedule with flexible hours – this type of schedule is known across the company as ATCSFlex.

This flexibility allows women to tailor their work hours around their life- be it doctor’s appointments, children’s schedules, family commitments, or hitting the gym. “On days that I want to fit in a workout class, I leave the office early so I can make it to my class on time. I love that I am able to adjust my hours in a way that allows me to complete my work on time while participating in activities outside of the office that are important to me,” said Madisyn Vinyard, EIT, Design Engineer at ATCS.

ATCSFlex empowers working moms to be present for crucial moments in their children’s lives without sacrificing their careers, fostering a healthier work-life balance. “ATCSFlex provides me with the flexibility to prioritize family responsibilities, like taking my daughter to doctor’s appointments or being present to care for her when she is sick,” said Melene Tolson, Administrative Assistant at ATCS. Danielle Jones, Sales Support and Business Development Team Leader – North Region at ATCS, shared similar thoughts stating, “With a high school senior and a new high school student, ATCSFlex helped me support my children as they maneuvered through the Covid-19 pandemic and back to a post-Covid world.”

Transitioning Back to Work as a New Mom

This phase is a delicate balance between nurturing a newborn and re-immersing oneself in professional responsibilities. Having the flexibility to adjust work hours or work from home, when necessary, can greatly alleviate the stress and challenges new mothers often face.

“From the moment my daughter was born two years ago to now, I’ve felt very supported through every step of the transition into my new role as a working parent at ATCS. With the guidance from our HR team during my maternity leave to the flexibility that was provided upon my return to work, I was able to focus on my career while enjoying life as a new mom,” said Corinne Pasley, Virginia Proposal Lead at ATCS. “Being part of the wellness room redesign made me feel good about my breast-feeding journey and excited for the future moms of ATCS to be able to utilize this new comfortable space!”
