Client: City of Newport News

Survey/engineering design/public outreach/construction administration + inspection for a signalized intersection + a single-lane roundabout for Patrick Henry Drive Extension at the Newport News-Williamsburg Airport.

This $4.5M, 2800-linear foot project was implemented to improve traffic flow, multimodal conditions, and roadway connectivity in the City’s Patrick Henry Commerce area. To support future development, a new 10-inch sanitary sewer main and 12-inch water distribution main were also added.

The innovative roundabout design featured a mountable stamped concrete truck apron, enabling phased construction to maintain traffic for all key stakeholders, including the airport, an industrial manufacturing plant, and adjacent SCOT Center Development for the City of Newport News Public Schools. Meeting an expedited design delivery schedule, ATCS delivered full construction bid documents in under 5 months.
