Client: The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) + The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA)
The $37 million Wedge Yard project is in Washington, DC near Amtrak’s Ivy City facility and Union Station on a wedge-shaped property located between the east side of Amtrak’s Ivy City Yard, Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor, and the CSXT Capital Subdivision mainline. The work involved the construction of three layover tracks and associated signal systems with service aisles along one side of each track, a full-length inspection pit under one track, and a locomotive maintenance pit under one track. ATCS Construction Management staff were responsible for maintaining project records, managing payment processing, and final closeout. The Wedge Yard project won MdQI’s Modal Award of Excellence for Projects over $5 million.
