Client: Stafford County, Virginia

ATCS designed and modeled several alternative solutions for this site located at the bottom of a 500-acre developed watershed. As a part of the flood mitigation effort, we addressed significant existing headwater issues upstream of U.S. Route 1 and provided an integrated stormwater management system for redevelopment of the site.

The project included the following:

  • 10.6 acres, 91 Town Homes, 150 apartments and 44,700 SF of commercial and retail uses
  • 1,000 linear-feet of road and drainage design along U.S. Route 1 with lane widenings, acceleration, deceleration lanes and intersection design
  • 3,000 linear-feet of tributary streams evaluated for 10-year adequacy and the 2-year velocity in addition to 100-year headwater conditions
