Get to Know: Rachid Hajbi
Tell us a bit about yourself and your role on the Transportation Design team.
I am a Professional Engineer with 13 years of experience in Transportation Design. I currently serve as a Transportation Engineering Manager leading the design efforts on multiple tasks to provide safe and high-quality projects. I coordinate with clients and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. I also supervise, mentor, and provide support and technical guidance to junior Engineers.
What led you to pursue a career in transportation design?
My deep-seated passion for engineering design, coupled with a fascination for how these principles are applied to create vital infrastructures like road networks, has been a driving force behind my decision to pursue a career in transportation design. This enthusiasm for the intricate process of planning, designing, and constructing transportation systems fuels my commitment to contributing meaningfully to this field.
What are a couple of your favorite ATCS projects that you’ve worked on and why?
Two of my favorite projects that I have worked on here at ATCS are the Exit 107 Park and Ride project in Culpeper, VA, and the Hockett Road Roundabout project in Richmond, VA. These projects stand out due to their extensive coordination across various disciplines, including right-of-way, utilities, geotechnical, traffic, and hydraulics. Working closely with multiple teams from different technical backgrounds has been immensely rewarding, as it ensures the delivery of safe and high-quality projects. These experiences have challenged my project management skills and provided valuable opportunities to learn from other subject matter experts.
